Hey Joes...I'll give you Jerry Koosman, Terry Mulholland and Cal Ripken, Jr and/or Terry Pendleton just for Bret Saberhagen. That's 3 or 4 for the price of one! Let's talk if you're interested. Keith, Cubs

Hey Militia.... I'm interested in John McGraw and Julian Tavarez. Take a look at my roster. Our last trade helped both of us. I'm willing to make it well worth your while again to get at least one of those two. Look over my roster. Let me know. The trade deadline draweth near. Keith, Cubs

PAWTUCKET, RI The Pawtucket Red Sox's front office finally woke up and made some moves. Hokie Phillips from Black Mountain, NC made some moves and visited the Red Sox's club house this morning. The lineup and Pitching rotation were shook up as well as the team picking a few players off waivers and dumping a few in the process. Also, a big trade with Black Mountian helped the REd Sox get a new look. The Red Sox Deseperatly need something with a 16-64 start. Hokie Phillips told the team that if they lost 100 games, everyone would lose thier jobs and they would all be selling TVs by this time next year. We'll see if the changes and attiuted make a difference with the hard luck Red Sox.

The Tigers are in a trading mood, made a bunch of moves today and I see that I need a left fielder. Am willing to part with Tris Speaker (I'm negotiating with the Cosmos on him but will listen to offers). Also need a good pitcher, not exceptional, but one that can keep an era under 4.00

Cubs - I'd offer a trade, but I have the least power in the league. Might be interested in Rickey Henderson or one of those pitchers that you seem to collect but otherwise, not sure.

BLACK MOUNTAIN- A Johnson for Bonds trade might be enticing, but --ONLY-- if I can get the Joes to agree to trade me Saberhagen, as I have requested. I --might-- be willing to let Johnson go in that case (or at least enter some negotiations with you). Otherwise, I just have to keep him around. Keep posted. If the Joes respond to my offer, we can talk about Johnson. (At this point, it would be only talk. You'd have to really make my mouth water with a substantial offer, but I'll listen to just about anything.)

MILITIA--CAL RIPKIN IS DEFINATELY ON THE MARKET! However, I'm using him as a pivot man in a multi-player offer to the Joes for Saberhagen. I've got to have a big name to include in that package to make the Joes mouth water a bit. If the Joes don't agree to the trade and no other team makes the right offer for Ripken, I'll give you a good deal for him, I promise. I especially want Tavarez. Sutter's starting to blow saves. Just like with Black Mountain, get back with me after I hear (or not) from the Joes.

ALL OWNERS--The Iron Man Cal Ripkin is up for grabs for the right offer if the Joes don't accept my trade offer in the next day. Make me a good counter offer (especially for a hitter) and I'll consider. Need pitching? How about Lee Smith, Terry Mulholland or Jerry Koosman. I might even part with Hideo Nomo for the right deal. Pendleton and Lemke are also possibly available for you. If you catch me at the right time, I might even offer up Rickey Henderson, but it would take a sweet deal in return.

SHOELESS JOES---I REALLY WANT SABERHAGEN! I'M EVEN WILLING TO GIVE UP (POSSIBLY) FOUR PLAYERS (INCLUDING RIPKEN) TO GET HIM (I MIGHT EVEN THROW IN NOMO). I NEED TO KNOW SOMETHING SOON, BECAUSE SEVERAL OTHER TEAMS ARE ASKING ABOUT RIPKEN AND NOMO. I'M HOLDING OUT BECAUSE SABERHAGEN IS THE MAN I WANT! Is it possible?

Keith, Weaverville Cubs

BLACK MOUNTAIN--Not quite as attractive as Bonds, but worth talking about perhaps. However, I'm still waiting to hear from the Joes. I can't even consider parting with Johnson without acquiring Saberhagen first. Even considering your offer will almost require a done deal with the Joes first. --Cubs

Cavaliers, How about I trade you Tom Henke for Pedro Martinez. Henke is having a good year and I'm willing to take a chance on Pedro's turnaround. Maybe new surroundings will help. Mike Marshall is also available if you need a guy who can middle relief.

Militia/Cosmos

The Shoeless Joe's have NO interest in Cal Ripken. This should free him up for the teams that are truly interested in acquiring his services. I am interested in Ty Cobb though...I could offer Max Carey and another player if your interested(Cosmos?)

Sorry Black Mountain. Since the Joes have yelled at me for making an offer, I can't part with Johnson. If you can figure out a way to get me Saberhagen before the next trade deadline, we'll talk about trading Johnson. But right now, the Joes seem a bit hostile. I was willing to negotiate with the Cosmos about Johnson, but without a star pitcher to replace him, I just can't part with him right now. Sorry, Black Mountain. I tried to make it work for all of us. --Cubs

Cubs...C'mon now, If the Shoeless Joe's had yelled, you would have heard it loud and clear. We were merely cutting straight to the chase. To get Saberhagen, the deal will have to be a 1 for 1...While getting alot of "dead weight" would fit right in with my squad, I'd prefer a straight superstar for superstar deal as opposed to the 3-4 for 1 deal. Of course, if your willing to take 3-4 players from the Joe's for 1 of your superstars, we can definately work a deal today. *g*

Joes.... I'm deeply sorry if I offended you. Apparently you aren't accustomed to "southern slang." There are no hard feelings here. "Yell" in the south is not the same as the dictionary definition. When we talk on the phone we "yell at Bob", etc. I certainly wasn't trying to imply you were rude. I'm very sorry if it was taken that way. I'll try to use everyday straight English in the future. Again, I apologize. I try to promote a friendly league. I'm deeply sorry I hurt your feelings or gave you the wrong impression. By the way, I know you're not interested and I'm certainly not trying to revisit the issue, but most would consider Cal Ripkin a superstar and not "dead weight." I certainly wouldn't try to unload dead weight on anyone. Anyway, the point is that I'm very sorry you thought I was upset or accusing you of yelling at me. Certainly not the case. Just using some Carolina country boy talk. And, as a gesture of friendship and goodwill, I invite you anytime to come over to Cubs Stadium and have a nice tall mason jar of my Carolina Mountain Dew...on the house. Randy Johhnson has a jar before every game. Nothing like it! One jar and you'll strike out 22 batters (as well as yourself).

Hope I have'nt damaged our relationship permanently. Again, no hard feelings!
